Search for the Golden Eagle

It was exciting to see the nest at last, but the eaglet hardly moved the whole time we watched. We waited for 40 minutes without seeing more than the mother on the upper right in the photo below. But wait, there is a Hooded Oriole directly above the nest and slightly to the left. That's cool. We found out later that eaglets don't move around much until they get their flight feathers. They stay still to conserve much-needed energy.

Mother , nest, and more. We saw the eaglet but it was very still. We were surprised by the Oriole

On the way back we saw a Violet-Green Swallow in a surprising place. It was a good day, especially since we found out the eaglet had survived for another day.
